“I have been able to embark on this wonderful journey and win these shows only because of Nepali people, so I want to be known as ‘Nepal’s Teriya’ worldwide rather than just Teriya Magar,” the dancer said, adding, “I will continue to work in India as I have already laid the foundation for my work over there but I will use that platform to promote Nepal.”
Fourteen-year-old Teriya has established Teriya Magar Foundation here in Nepal to help underprivileged and orphan children. Speaking about the works of her foundation, she said, “The foundation was established so as to help out disadvantaged children and to assist them in their studies as well as to help them explore their talents.”
During the event, Magar was honoured jointly by Head District Officer of Rupandehi district, Local VDC Officer and District Education Officer.
Prior to her triumph at Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa, Teriya had also won another dance reality show DID Lil, Masters. Jhalak Dikhla Jaa which has the highest cash prize selects celebrities form various fields to compete in a dance competition. For the finale of the show, Teriya had competed with the winner of first season of DID as well as the previous season of Jhalak Dikhla Jaa Salman Yusuf Khan and the winner of World Hip-hop dance championship, Shantanu Maheshwori.
